Marquette v Miami

In one of the most bizarre sideline reports I’ve ever seen in all my years of watching sports, Rachel Nichols told us all about Marquette senior centre Chris Otule and his fake eye.

That’s right, a young man with only one working eye is playing at the highest level of college basketball, and even though, as Nichols describes, his teammates have to throw the ball into him a little softer than usual and look to get him the ball on his good side, Otule has managed averages of 5.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and one block in over 17 minutes per game for Marquette.

His teammates joking that Otule should pop his fake eye out to freak out the opposition at the free throw line is probably the most ridiculous thing you’ll ever hear about or consider while watching sports.

Perhaps most interesting of all is that when you search youtube for “Rachel Nichols Chris Otule,” you get this video of Otule serenading Nichols with Michael Jackson’s The Girl Is Mine.

Now this is March Madness.
