Oregon v Oklahoma St

No. 12 Oregon got past No. 5 Oklahoma State pretty easily in the Midwest Region, and as you may have noticed in the title, despite the difference in seeding, I’m not exactly sold on this result being an upset.

Gonzaga v Southern

Midwest No. 1 seed Gonzaga, who also finished the season as the No. 1 ranked team in the AP Poll, survived a scare from No. 16 Southern University on Thursday to advance to the second round. But can any Zags fan or bracket filler who had them going deep really take solace in the final result?

East Region No. 14 Davidson looked like they were on their way to the first major upset of the 2013 Tournament, but a memorable Marquette rally instead sent the Wildcats packing in devastating fashion.

Pittsburgh was a statistical darling coming in to the tournament. So much for that.

Pittsburgh was a statistical darling coming in to the tournament. So much for that.

A No. 9 seed beating a No. 8 seed isn’t exactly an “upset” amidst all of the usual Madness of the NCAA tournament, but the way in which West Region No. 9 Wichita State absolutely plowed through No. 8 Pittsburgh certainly was.
